Scrip

Scrip is the perfect fundraiser!  This program generates funds for our parish without any cost to you.  Since we began the Scrip program in 1994, over $200,000 has been raised.  Scrip has paid for the storage shed, part of the paving of the parking lot, all 70 of the main church pews, the 8 choir pews, 3 chapel pews, and almost all of the altar kneelers and chairs.

The Scrip program at North American Martyrs is organized and maintained by a group of dedicated volunteers.  A small group is responsible for the weekly bookkeeping, inventory control and ordering, and a staff of volunteers fill the orders at weekend Masses.

The only cost associated with Scrip is a small shipping fee for the delivery of much of our Scrip, with the remainder of orders being picked up weekly by a volunteer at certain local vendors.

If you do not yet participate in the Scrip program, we encourage you to check our list of Scrip, find the businesses you patronize, and begin using Scrip for your purchases.  You might start by using Scrip for your groceries (Scrip is available for Hy-Vee, Russ's Market, Super Saver, Savemart and SunMart Grocery Stores) and you'll soon realize what an easy and great habit using Scrip can be.

Using Scrip is amazingly simple, convenient, and so beneficial to North American Martyrs Parish!

What is Scrip?
North American Martyrs purchases gift cards and gift certificates from local and national retailers at a discounted price and then resells them to parishioners for full face value.  We keep the difference, which is between 2% and 25% of all purchases.

The amount of our discount (our profit) is on the order envelope, next to the name of the business.  If you purchase a grocery gift card for $100, and the percentage is 3%, our profit is $3.  It's easy to see that our parishioners can raise money for the parish by simply using gift cards and certificates for groceries, clothing, dining out, and other expenditures.
 
Special Orders
The back of our order envelope lists several business as "Special Orders".  These are simply those that we do not keep on hand, but will order as necessary.
Special Orders placed by 10:00 a.m. Monday will be received by Thursday of the same week.

We are not limited to the businesses listed on our order envelope.  You can visit www.glscrip.com and check the list of "Retailers" to see the entire list of available Scrip.  This website also has other interesting information about Scrip.  If you want Scrip for a business we don't have listed, just write it in on the Special Order Side of the Scrip envelope order form.

Using Scrip
When you use Scrip, you're using the actual gift card/certificate for a business.  Most of the paper gift certificates must be redeemed in one purchase, and they are available in convenient denominations.

Many businesses have gift cards that are processed electronically, so if your purchase price is less than the value of your card, you can use the amount remaining for future purchases.

You can look at our list of Scrip to see which businesses offer gift cards or paper certificates.

How/where to purchase Scrip

  • Scrip orders are filled during every weekend Mass.  The Scrip table is by the door to the Family Room.  Simply fill out the envelope and drop off (with payment included) before Mass begins, and pick it up when you leave.

  • If you have a child who attends our school, you can send the order to school in the morning, and the student will bring it home that day.  It's helpful if you can include the student's name and grade on the envelope order form.

  • You can call the school office (476-7373) to order and come in to pick up.

  • If you are unable to place an order by any of the above methods, you can call Cathy at 474-6143 or Carol at 435-1384.


Scrip Options

  • JcPenneys and Kohls accept gift cards for in-store payment on their charge cards.

  • Some gift cards are redeemable at different businesses:

  • You can purchase one card that is good at either Olive Garden and/or Red Lobster;

  • one card can be used for purchases at Banana Republic, The Gap and/or Old Navy;

  • one card can be used at Barnes & Noble and/or B. Dalton;

  • and one card can be used at Chili's and/or Macaroni Grill.
     

  • Some businesses accept their gift cards for online and/or phone orders, such as Lands End and Cabela's.

  • You can even purchase a gift certificate for Scrip.  The gift certificate can be used to buy any Scrip of choice - please call the school office (476-7373) for details.

  • Scrip can help with your monthly budget.  Purchase gift certificates for your groceries, clothing, entertainment, etc. and while you keep track of your monthly spending, you'll know that some of that money goes to our parish!
