“Come, and see.”
For centuries, the Church has been saying, “Come and see.” And one of the principal ways in which she has done this is through OCIA. OCIA includes classes, but it is also something more. Through lessons on different aspects of the faith, discussion and prayer, field trips and retreats, service and community, OCIA is an opportunity for someone to come to know Jesus Christ.
The RCIA Team
Coming most recently from Hastings, and following on several years teaching high school, Fr. Hall is overjoyed to be the pastor here at Martyrs. Fr. Hall was an engineer for a few years before hearing the call to the priesthood. He was also in a rock band and still performs from time to time. Fr. Hall does not love sweets, but he does love teaching the faith, counseling souls, and being the pastor here at Martyrs. He is also a chaplain for a ministry very dear to his heart called Eden Invitation.
Fr. Wahlmeier grew up near Hastings, NE as the eleventh of fifteen children. After graduating from St. Gregory the Great Seminary, he spent four years in Rome completing his theological training, working on an advanced degree in biblical theology, and getting to know the Church Universal. He’s passionate about Scripture and languages and enjoys dabbling in painting and board games. But mostly he enjoys being a priest at Martyrs.
Ryan has been helping out teaching RCIA for quite a while now. Also, you can often find him setting up or tearing down tables or sitting eagerly with his Bible in hand. Though raised Catholic, Ryan left the faith for some time. In college he was reintroduced to Jesus through studying the Bible with other Christians. Ryan then went on to work at a church before eventually making his way back into the Catholic Church.
Rozee is our master behind-the-scenes worker. She’s there early each week to make sure the snacks are set out, the coffee is brewing, and everything else is ready to go. Rozee is also quite involved in the parish. One of her favorite things to do is to bring the Eucharist to the homebound.
Chance is a physical therapist and also a co-founder of a local apostolate for married couples called Missionaries of the Holy Spirit in the Family. He’s gracious enough to also contribute his talents at RCIA where he teaches from time to time. RCIA has been dear to Chance since he himself entered the Church later in life.
Or to put it better: Giving your life to Jesus
